Hello, my lovelies! Happy 4th of July! This Navy
daughter salutes our troops and all who served so that I can enjoy my freedom.
It also would have been my grandparents 75th wedding anniversary
(they’re both deceased).
First off, I have to say I’m Not Happy with this mani. I
seem to have trouble with the weaving and it’s just super sloppy. I followed
Lucy’s Stash’s tutorial, but I botched it up 4 times. 4 times!!! This is the 4th
round. I’m too tired to try again. In the pictures, she doesn’t show using tap,
but either she does, or she just has a great steady hand. So, next time, I will
use tape to make the lines nice and crisp. I really like this look and am determined to get it right, so expect
to see more of this mani style in coming weeks.
For this I used Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby (my favorite go-to
red and the first bottle I’ve ever had with noticeable dropping fill line),
China Glaze Eyes Like Sapphires, and Milani Fast Dry White On The Spot. I ended
up using a fine nail art brush for the blue, and touch ups on the white-the
regular brushes were just too wide and thick. I didn’t bother cleaning up the cuticles
too much (sorry about that!) because I’m just worn out. Some of them managed to
get smeary too, because the layering is so thick on these. By the time I take
it off either tomorrow or Friday, it
should peel off nicely as one layer, lol! My right hand simply got red, white and blue dots.
I didn’t have in it me to try a 5th time.

That's a really neat idea and looks really hard. It's too complicated for my shake to handle but I'm glad you tried it.
ReplyDeleteI love the design! Can't even imagine attempting something that complicated so my hat's off to you, Mal. I have enough trouble getting a single color on straight! Hope the tape works for you. Smoochies!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The colours really pop. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! I was uber-lazy and didn't end up painting my nails at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mary; I took the polish off my toes yesterday (the fingers were already bare) with all good intentions of repainting them with holiday-appropriate polish, but was too lazy to follow through. I think the design is cool, and I'm sure with your determination, you'll get even better at it in future tries. I don't look at this as a failure! :)

Nice try, I like the thought of a weave design but I can how it would be hard to accomplish. I hope it works out better for you in the future.
ReplyDeleteThank you, ladies! I will definitely be trying it again, it's so neat looking. :D
