Christmas mani drive by posting!

Hello, my lovelies!

I'll be back this Sunday with new, weekly postings but I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas if you celebrate it!

Here's what I'm wearing today! There's a whole bunch of polishes involved but the beauty on my ring finger is by a fabulous, relatively new indie called Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer! I'll have more from her this coming Sunday, but this stunner is called Newborn Solstice Sun and she is gorgeous. This is two coats of beautiful application, topped with Seche Vite. Be sure to check out Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer!

(The Santa hat is upside so I included a second pic to show it correctly!)

Quickie post - Halloween nails!

Hello, my lovelies!

I hope you're all enjoying Hallowe'en night and all the fun of the spooky ooky and wee child beasties!

I did a little art for Hallowe'en (or as I call it, Samhain) so I thought I'd share.

It's Frankenstein! I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Parrot ( 3 coats-icky formula!), Milani Black Swift, and Milani White on the Spot, topped with Seche Vite.

Have a safe and fun Halloween! Don't forget to check out my blog sale!

Guest Blogger: Elemental nails!

I'm so excited to guest post for my good friend Mal of Enchanted Nails and Fluffy Dog Tails.  I wanted to do a mani inspired by her.  What I've come up with is a mani representing the five elements.

Guest blogger - Beetlejuice nails!

I've got a guest blogger today, covering for me! Thank you, Samantha!!!

Hi everyone. I'd like to say thanks to Mal for having me on the blog today.

I started out with Seche Clear as my base coat. I then used Zoya Purity (white) as my base color. I used two coats to make sure there were no streaks in my white stripes. I let that dry for a few hours. After it was dry I used some stripping tape and placed 3 on each nail. Then I covered the nail with Zoya Dahlia.

I'm baaaaaack!

Hello, my lovelies!

It’s been far, far too long since we last visited. This pesky thing called work swooped in and took over my life the last few months, and unfortunately, the blog fell to the wayside. Most days I didn’t even have time to do my nails and would wear the same polish for 3 or 4 days (the horror!) ;)

But I think, things are easing up now and I hope to at least get once post in a week for now, and back up to 2-3 postings a week by the end of June.  I think I debuted this blog last year on Memorial Day, so my one year blogaversary should be here!

Naughty Nails Art Contest!

Lovelies, we’re going to get serious for a moment. Did you know, it is estimated that 70% of women and men will come into contact with human papillomavirus during their life? That’s the group of viruses that can lead to cervical cancer!

Regular Pap tests, supplemented by appropriate HPV testing, will detect virtually all pre-cancerous changes and cervical cancers, and cervical cancer is completely preventable if pre-cancerous cell changes are detected and treated early. And considering that we can’t exactly look down and examine the cervix by ourselves, it makes it extra important to get that routine exam! You can find out more information at the National Cervic Cancer Coalition site about the virus and how to prevent it.

The lovely ladies of Sassy Nails, Lena Loves Nails, Frugal Polish and myself decided to have a fun nail contest. And since January is National Cervical Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to tie them together. How? With naughty nail art of course!

So we present to you, The Don’t Be A Dick To Your Cervix Giveaway! The name is cheeky but the topic is fun and it’s for a great awareness! Read on to see what AMAZING sponsors and UNBELIEVABLY FANTASTIC prizes we have lined up for you! And even if you don't do nail art, read on because you can still win!

Galaxy Nails!

Hello, my lovelies!
It’s rainy day today in DC, and I can’t do any yard work, so I’m doing nails? Yep.

I’ve been meaning to do galaxy nails for a couple of weeks so I decided today’s the day! This is definitely a mani that requires time, as it involves layering polish.

So, onward we go! First, we start off with a black base. I recently got Nevermore by Cult nails, hailed as a one coat black polish. No joke, it really is! I did two coats anyway. It also dries pretty quick, and applied super smoothly.

Water Marble Mayhem!

Hello, my lovelies!

I’m calling today Water Marble Mayhem! Why? Because it is just not in the cards today for me to have a water marble. I had planned to submit this to Shelly’s Sassy Nails for the Sassy Saturday of this month, but…no. These just did NOT come out well.

I don’t know if I had the water temp wrong or what, but the skins kept forming super quickly, the polish wouldn’t spread, etc. I tried a few times before giving up, but here’s how it went. I didn’t even bother with clean up, I was so annoyed, lol! Waring, pic heavy!

BZZZZZZZ! It's busy bee time!

Hello, my lovelies!

It’s a hot summer day, so I decided some bzzzzing bees were in order! I was surprised by how many bee manis were there out there, and I have a second one planned as well. They’re so cute!

The one I chose today is based on The Daily Nail’s, from 2010. I really liked the whimsy of the flight pattern in this. I spend a lot of time in the garden, so I deal with bees on a regular basis.
I love the spring honeybees, who are nonaggressive and busy with their pollinating job. The big old bumble bees that are cute and fuzzy looking, are the gentlest of the bunch. They just want to hover over the flowers. But those big, ugly, hornets ans wasp (including yellow jackets), stay away from them. They are the aggressive, mean and very painful stingers! Honeybees have been disappearing across the country in entire colonies, and this is worrisome. A lot of people don’t realize how reliant we are on honeybees for pollinating all kinds of crops across the country. Missing colonies is bad news for everyone!

COOOKIES! OMNOMNOMNOM!

Hello, my lovelies!

I had hoped to post this yesterday but I was out of town with friends all day and didn’t have time. So instead, I’m bringing it to you today!

I wasn’t sure what to put on my nails Saturday but almost everyone who answered the question on FB, said “Cookie Monster!” A dear friend was spending the night so we did our nails, of course! (and I forgot to get a picture of hers, damn!)

More colorblocking!

Hello, my lovelies!

It’s a scorching hot Friday afternoon in oh, about half of the US. I hope everyone is staying cool! The Big Fluffy Dog, also known as The Rare Tropical Husky, wants to go out and sunbathe and sit under the shed. Mommy (me) says no. So she’s currently snoozing a few feet away, on her back, legs splayed, back slightly arched. I do know other people with Siberian Huskies that prefer heat to cold too so she’s not alone, but it’s a small percentage. She has very poor judgment when it comes to the weather!

So I decided to do some more colorblocking, for Shelley’s Sassy Saturday mani contest! This is only my second attempt, but I used two polishes that have been waiting their turn: Zoya Arizona and Eddie Mojito Madness, both from collections this year.

4th of July fishtail!

Hello, my lovelies! Happy 4th of July! This Navy daughter salutes our troops and all who served so that I can enjoy my freedom. It also would have been my grandparents 75th wedding anniversary (they’re both deceased).

First off, I have to say I’m Not Happy with this mani. I seem to have trouble with the weaving and it’s just super sloppy. I followed Lucy’s Stash’s tutorial, but I botched it up 4 times. 4 times!!! This is the 4th round. I’m too tired to try again. In the pictures, she doesn’t show using tap, but either she does, or she just has a great steady hand. So, next time, I will use tape to make the lines nice and crisp. I really like this look and am determined to get it right, so expect to see more of this mani style in coming weeks.

Jem is Truly Outrageous!

Hello, my lovelies!  Today’s manicure is a super special labor of love.

My buddy Jenn over at My Indie Glam Addiction is having an awesome nail art contest and the theme is JEM! Any child of the 80s like myself will know immediately who this is. I can still sing the entire theme song and some of the songs featured in the show. I’ve dressed up as Jem for Halloween at least twice in my life-and one of the costumes is still hanging in my closet ‘cause the last time was just a couple years ago.

Time for some neon!

I had no idea what to try today, other than bright. A friend suggested neons, so here it is! I don't have many neons, but I've been reading about how putting it over a white base helps it to really pop. It is really bright, lol!
